Charismatic leaders are incredibly destructive, historically. When it comes to CEOs, strategic planners, special forces sergeants, and Presidents, boring is good. The drive to be always entertained, to be led like a sheep, to be constantly entranced, is a typical fatal trap of affluent classes and societies who have nothing important to do.
Are moderns pampered superficial dumbed-down fools? No more than the French aristocracy just before the deluge.
Well, statesmanship tends to be boring work. Romney is as bland as they come, at least they have some celebs to back him. Obama has the advantage of being able to promise “equal pay” and cradle to grave care (see the Julia ad).
I’m mainly interested in it for propaganda purposes though.
