Stark Truth Podcast: Neuro-Tribalism

My latest podcast with Rob Stark radio:

This time, we focus on how the internet is a new printing press that abolishes many of the constraints of geography and makes possible the formation of groups with relatively rare traits that would never find each other in a purely face-to-face society.
The internet makes possible a process of distillation.  If you have a trait that is 1/1000, you can find 350,000 people like you in a sprawling empire of 350 million.  That small but substantial minority, if truly cohesive, has the potential to steamroll countless millions who are isolated and weak in an atomized consumer economy.

I anticipate that while some of these new neuro-tribes may be dysfunctional crabs-in-a-bucket echo chambers, others will concentrate excellence and capability.  These latter will be the new ruling tribes over a de-facto caste system as the emergent peoples establish a pecking order.

We analyze how even within the roughly related populations we call “races” there are clusters of personality types.  Those who are roughly related and share key personality traits are those who form post-internet, post-nation neuro-tribes.  The black sheep of every family with mass communications are soon able to have a whole herd of black sheep where their particular aberrance is the norm.

By Giovanni Dannato

In 1547 I was burnt at the stake in Rome for my pernicious pamphlet proclaiming that the heavens were not filled with a profusion of aether, but rather an extensive vacuum.
Now, the phlogiston that composed my being has re-manifested centuries in the future so that I may continue the task that was inconveniently disrupted so long ago.
Now, I live in Rome on the very street where I (and others) were publicly burnt. To this day, the street is known as what I would translate as 'Heretic's Way'. My charming residence is number 6 on this old road. Please, do come inside and pay me a visit; I should be delighted to spew out endless pedagoguery to one and all...

You need skin in the game to have a tribe. When one member of the tribe gets into some sort of trouble, the other members have got to help him out. You have got to have skin in each others games.

You need tribesmen raising each other’s status in competition with outsiders.

You need an enforcement mechanism against defectors. You have to make defectors pay dearly, maybe with their lives.

I’m not sure how an internet based tribe could accomplish all that. You have got to come face to face at least now and then. This idea is an interesting one, but it needs more work.

Okay, so the internet can get things kick started. But this tribe will have to live close to each other. They will have to move. The Free State project tried this and failed to get it’s fellow Libertarian tribals to all move to New Hampshire and take over the state. Now I get Moldbug’s point that Libertarianism is not really a cohesive framework. But the difficulties remain. Still early days. Let see what happens.

I encourage you to think through the details on how such a tribe to coalesce, practically speaking. You could make this domain your own. You could be the Lenin to Jim’s Marx or if that analogy is distasteful to you, you could be the Paul to Jim’s Jesus. People seriously underestimate Paul. To me, he was more if not as important as Jesus.

Will neuro-tribes have gender imbalances? Many personality traits and subcultural identity groups are heavily skewed by gender. Segregation on the basis of gender seems to be a growing problem already. The logical outcome of neuro-tribalism is a worsening fertility crisis, is it not?

Hey, you like dissident fiction?
I discovered this short blog you might like to read:

In the podcast you mentioned you found the MBTI personality classification to be fluffy.
I also feel MBTI is overly complicated and too subjective.

What are your thoughts on Enneagram? To me it seems intuitive and fits on real people I know.
It “clicks”.

What about other models?

Big Five (conscientiousness, openness to experience, etc.)
Four Colors (Gold, Green, Orange, Blue)
Four Humours of the Greeks
DnD alignment
Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation
Holland Codes
r/K selection (fast/slow life history)
That Slavic one which predicts sexual style

Finding the best framework is important because accurately modeling another’s mind lets you predict their behavior.
